One day walking through the craft store I happened to pass all the doll making items. You know the chunks of curly doll hair, doll shoes, unfinished doll faces. Stuff you'd be afraid of if you happened upon them in the dark. Seriously, creepy doll faces... But as soon as I saw a mini witch hat I knew exactly what to do with it. I snagged it for .79. Cheap money folks.
You can pretty much embellish the hat with whatever you like so I only included a mini tutorial.
Supplies I used: Mini Witch Hat (of course), citrus green netting (Fabric.com) - you could use tulle, re-purposed feathers, glue gun, flower embellishments, mini white ric rac, orange sequin ribbon ($1 at Michael's Crafts), Scissors, and colored elastic.
Here's my hat with the ric rac and sequin ribbon glued on.
I used the netting to add additional texture and color to the hat. Cut a small rectangle and fold the long way like a fan then fold in half.
Glue your folded netting and feathers onto the base of the hat. Next glue your flower embellishment on top of the netting at the base. Be careful with the hot glue because it will seep through the netting and burn your fingers.
Attach elastic to your finished hat or glue onto a headband or glue a hair clip on the underside of the hat rim.
Finally put your new Lil' Witch Hat on your cutie pie and let everyone gush at how cute she is!
